Educational Programs

Each year the community and education programs of Garland Symphony Orchestra reach over 10,000 community members from various walks of life and socio-economic backgrounds. Garland Symphony Orchestra is very proud of its numerous programs dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in our community.

Young People's Concerts

Designed to enhance school district fine arts programs, Young People's Concerts include a curriculum created to encompass standards set forth by the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) syllabus. Students learn about the components of music and are presented with a live performance from a professional symphony orchestra.

Our 2010 Repertoire is an exciting blend of Brahms and Bugs Bunny.  Colorful selections dating back to the late 19th century are sure to captivate our young audience.

2010 Young People's Concert Repertoire:

Rimsky Korskokov - Dance of the Tumblers (from the Snow Maiden)

Brahms - Symphony No. 2, mvmt. IV Allegro con Spirito

Herbert - March of the Toys (from Babes in Toyland)

Williams - Selections from 'Harry Potter'

Franklyn/Brubaker - 'What's Up' at the Symphony
